PRIM*VALENTINE*MAILBOX*MAKEDO
Welcome Prim Friends, and thank you for stopping by to view my new Valentine Offerings. Here we have a large Primitive Grungy Olde Valentine Mailbox Makedo. This would display nicely as a centerpiece on a halltree, table, bureau or as a shelf sitter. It measures 23" tall and 14"wide and 5" deep.I have created this piece in the primitive fashion to give it that time-worn look. The mailbox is sewn from osnasburg and reinforced with cardboard. I then applied a black paint-wash followed by several layers of crackle medium, and then a coat of antique white paint. The crackled finish separates or is chipped away revealing the undercoat to appear as peeled paint. I then aged and rubbed the surface with an antique brown polish. An image of a Vintage Valentine Heart is adhered to both sides showing a vintage angel passing out red hearts. The flag is wrapped with an aged and torn strip of red and cream ticking. Green floral moss is scattered to resemble moss growing on the edges and Glass Glitter gives the mailbox and the flag its sparkle. The mailbox has an open front flap with three envelopes resting inside that I have hand stitched from aged osnasburg and stuffed lightly. A tiny rusty bell is attached to each and Glass Glitter is sprinkled over the tops. The words "Valentine" "Love" "Be Mine" and "Forever" are heat pressed onto the Love Letters in Script font. Sprigs of pine, red pip berries, green moss and spanish moss spill out of the opening surrounding the love letters. For the base, I have placed the mailbox onto an olde antique wooden bobbin adhered to a wooden placque that I have antiqued with black paint and rubbed with brown antique polish.A coffee-stained cheesecloth is wrapped around the top of the bobbin held with rusty bells strung onto rusty wire and a little green floral moss. The bottom of the base is sprinkled with Glass Glitter and more of the green moss. This piece has been lovingly made by me from a pattern created by Old Glory Company. This design will come to you dated, signed and tagged with my own label "Collectibles by Joan" which states "The Handcrafting and Time Invested in this Piece are its Own Mark of Quality".

PRIM*FOLKART*SNOW*BABY*ICE*CREAM
Welcome Prim Friends, and thank you for stopping by to view my new Winter Offerings. Here we have a Primitive Folk Art Snow Baby Art Doll that I have fondly named "Ice Cream". This piece would display nicely as a centerpiece, shelf sitter, or tucked into a rocking chair. She measures 17" tall and 9" wide.I created this piece in the primitive grungy fashion to give it that time-worn look. Ice Cream's body is sewn from muslin, weighted and stuffed with fiberfill. Her body was aged in a coffee-vanilla stain and baked. Her facial features are both hand-painted with acrylics, hand-stitched with black floss and artist pencils were used for shading, then sprayed with a matte sealer. Her separate stitched on carrot nose was sewn from muslin, paint-washed in terra cotta orange, sanded and aged with a coffee-vanilla-cinnamon solution. Her whimsical, pointed stockings are painted cream with burgundy stripes and sanded. Her dress was sewn from an antique white aged chenille bedspread for the bodice and aged Burgundy and cream flannel snowflake print for the skirt. White pom-pom trim was stained in the aging solution and sewn to the hem of her skirt. Her burgundy mittens are painted on and sanded, then embroidered with cream floss prim snowflakes. Aged sherpa fur trims the cuffs of the mittens.Creamy Mother of Pearl buttons embellish the front of the bodice across the empire gathered waist. Her coordinating bloomers are sewn from aged burgundy and cream homespun check. Her cute snow cap was sewn from stained burgundy mottled felt with straps tied in a bow under her chin and tassels at the two points of the crown. She is cozy and warm for the chilly weather.I have given her a Prim Hang Tag that has been stained in the coffee-vanilla-cinnamon mixture and stamped in brown pigma ink "Let It Snow". I have painted the edges and dip-dotted the snow drops with buttermilk paint sprinkled with fine clear German Glass Glitter to resemble snow. It is fastened to her sleeve with a rusty safety pin. This piece has been lovingly made by me from a pattern designed by Sweet Meadows Farm. This design will come to you dated, signed and tagged with my own label "Collectibles by Joan" which states "The Handcrafting and Time Invested in this Piece are its Own Mark of Quality".

PRIM*FOLKART*AMERICANA*YOYO*FLOWERS*WATERING*CAN*FLORAL
Welcome Prim Friends, and thank you for stopping by to view my new Patriotic Offerings. Here we have a Primitive Folk Art Grapevine Watering Can with Americana Yoyo Florals. This piece would display nicely as a centerpiece, shelf sitter, or placed on a bureau, table or halltree. It measures approximately 15 in tall and 13 in wide and 6 in deep. This would also make a wonderful house-warming gift that is everlasting and never withers.I have created this floral piece in the primitive fashion to give it that time-worn look. Each flower is hand-stitched into a nostalgic yoyo fabric circle, reminiscent of the olde fashioned yoyo quilts. Each flower is made from a different, but coordinating Americana print fabric in navy, rusty red, and cream stars and stripes designs. I have sewn a large rusty red lucite button with navy floss at the center of each flower. The fabric leaves are sewn from a hunter green leaf print fabric layered with interfacing and wire is inserted to make them poseable. The wire stems are wrapped in floral tape and then anchored into floral foam covered with spanish moss. The eight yoyo flowers are arranged in a natural grapevine twig watering can wrapped with a coordinating patriotic flag fabric bow that is torn and tied in the front and embellished with another large rusty red button. I have given this piece a primitive tag, aged with coffee-vanilla-cinnamon stain that I have carefully burnt the edges with a flame and topped it with a nostalgic print of a vintage greeting card showing a olde cannon, flag and bald eagle that says July 4th 1776 in a red, white and blue stars and stripes print. This piece has been lovingly made by me as my own concept and design and no pattern was used. This design will come to you dated, signed and tagged with my own label "Collectibles by Joan" which states "The Handcrafting and Time Invested in this Piece are its Own Mark of Quality".
